Combloux, Combloux, true
balcony of the Mont Blanc, is a high-Savoyard village located at 1000
meters of altitude, halfway between Sallanches and Megeve, not far from
Chamonix. Winter sports resort and of summer to the authentic charm, it
allows each one to practise the Montain such as he conceives it.
High-Montain within reach, quiet
or sporting excursions, Montain bike, alpine or cross country skiing,
but as well other activities of relaxation where the art of living and
of contemplation find all their direction.
You will discover the functional architecture
and typical old farms of which are inspired still today a many country
cottages and of constructions thanks to the generous use of wood. You
will discover also the famous silhouette of its bell-tower with bulb,
guard of a preserved historical patrimony. You will discover finally other
gastronomical pleasures, more typical with the most refined.

"The combe with
the wolves ", such is the probable etymological origin of Combloux, of
which the oldest reference goes up in XIIth century. The pastorale activity
was with the wire of the centuries the principal activity of "Comblorans"
(Combloux's owners). But in 1913 the Large Hotel of the Mont Blanc was
built, vis-a-vis with the splendid panorama of the Mont Blanc. Become
in 1923 the " PLM " in reference to the company of the railroads " Paris-Lyon-Mediterranee
" which repurchased it, its imposing silhouette and characteristic forms
today integral part of the landscape from Combloux. Before the Second
World War, it is the activity of the size of the granite which fed the
fame of Combloux. But it is since 1958, creation date of the ski lifts
that Combloux will make its true tourist great strides.
